Ayume: Ayurveda For Me, And For You
Growing up, we noticed something about the women in our family.
There was a softness to their skin that nobody talked about. No ten-step routines. No expensive serums lined up on the bathroom shelf. Just quiet, consistent habits that had been passed down so naturally they barely registered as a practice at all.
Ayurveda had always been there. In the kitchen. In the rituals before bed. In the way certain ingredients were trusted without question, not because of a study or a trend, but because they had worked for generations before us.
We didn’t fully understand it then. We just noticed.
We also noticed when things went differently.
A cousin who leaned heavily into modern beauty — layers of makeup, product after product, chasing whatever the industry was selling that season. Her skin told a different story. Not dramatically. But noticeably. The glow that came so naturally to the older women in our family seemed harder for her to hold onto.
That contrast stayed with us for a long time.
We didn’t set out to start a skincare brand. We set out to understand why what our family had always done seemed to work — and why so few people outside of that tradition had access to it.
Ayurveda is one of the oldest skin sciences in the world. It predates clinical trials, dermatology, the beauty industry itself. For thousands of years, it understood what skin needs — not to be stripped and rebuilt, but to be supported, nourished, brought back to itself.
Saffron has been at the heart of that tradition for millennia. Kumkuma, as it is known in Sanskrit, has been used across Persian, Indian, and Mediterranean cultures to brighten, restore, and protect. Our family knew this not as history, but as habit.
Ayume began with one oil and the women who first believed in it.
Before we had a brand, before we had a name, we put Golden Hour Thailam into the hands of the people we trusted most. Weeks later, one of them told us her skin had never felt softer. Another said it felt tighter, more lifted. More like itself again.
We cannot make clinical claims. But we know what we saw. And we know what they felt.
That was enough to begin.
Ayume exists because great skin wisdom should not be the inheritance of a few.
We have all reached for Japanese skincare, Korean skincare, formulas inspired by traditions not our own — because we instinctively understand that the best skin knowledge crosses borders. Ayurveda is one of the oldest of all these sciences. And for too long, it has been either exoticised or overlooked.
We built Ayume so that every woman has a chance to experience what it truly offers. Not as a trend. Not as an aesthetic. As a practice that genuinely works.
This is Ayurveda for me. And for you.
